Sasha Korbut is a writer, producer, and filmmaker based in New York City. He wrote, directed, and produced 'Incomplete' - a short film about love and misconnection. It had its U.S. premiere in 2023 at the Provincetown International Film Festival and a world premiere in 2024 at The British Film Institute in London during the BFI FLARE film festival
Sasha Korbut has a wide array of experience in television and radio broadcasting, as well as print journalism and stage performance. He holds a Bachelor's degree in journalism from Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok, Russia) and a Master’s degree in communication from the University of Valencia (Spain). He began his career as a journalist, TV host, and producer at National Television in Russia and later contributed to numerous print and online magazines including OUT, Filmmaker magazine, SOBRANIE Exclusive, Konkurent, Snob, Medium, and Gay.ru.
Korbut as well is a former dancer. He has been dancing and acting professionally for more than two decades and has worked for dance companies in Russia, South Korea, Spain, China, and the United States. After studying under full scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, he performed at Louis Vuitton’s show Reconstruction, Dixon Place, Gene Frankel Theater, NYC Summer Stage, and The Francesca Harper Project. He has appeared in various commercials including Wella, Siggis, Sabon, and the HBO campaign Recommended by Humans. In 2020 as a dancer, he appeared in the Rebecca Foon/Patrick Watson music video Vessels along with Tony-nominated dancer Karine Plantadit.
As a curator/producer Korbut has worked with renowned American photographers Henny Garfunkel and Nina Alovert. In 2015 with the support of the U.S. Consulate in Vladivostok Russia, he produced Nina Alovert’s solo exhibition. In 2018 he received a second grant to curate and produce Henny Garfunkel's solo exhibit called YOUNGER which took place in September 2018 during Pacific Meridian Film Festival in Vladivostok, Russia.
Korbut has been featured in The New York Times, OUT Magazine, Mashable, and Time Out New York. In addition to his artistic pursuits, Sasha works as a freelancer with distribution companies such as Corinth Films, Kino Lorber, Mubi, and Neon helping with outreach and film scouting. He also contributed to numerous film festivals including The New York Film Festival, NewFest, Telluride Film Festival, and Dance on Camera.
In his spare time Sasha teaches yoga at Modo Yoga NYC and Sui Yoga as well as travels internationally giving workshops on Yin and meditation practices. He is a resident at Goldeneye, Jamaica as well as the guest teacher at Modo Yoga Miami and Modo Yoga San Diego and Zentro Urban Yoga in Madrid.
